Nature Uprising : A set of miniature paintings that serve as a reflection of the year 2020.
Urban flooding is a common feature of many metropolitan cities the world over. The Monsoons in the fall of 2020 resulted in massive urban flooding in my hometown, Karachi, Pakistan. The floods left the city devastated, with huge losses incurred by the people. The part of town that I lived in was completely inundated. Ironically, this area of the city consists of reclaimed land and was part of the Arabian sea less than 50 years ago. Watching the waves crashing against the infrastructure, with homes and bridges alike underwater, it was a sad awakening; like nature was reclaiming what used to once be its space.
